Hey guys, remember Thylane Blondeau-Rose, the 10-year-old French model whose creepily adult-like photos drove us (and the rest of the interwebs) into a rage to protect the young? Well, this time, the parents have rushed in for the rescue.
According to Fashionista, the parents of the now 16-year-old (she was 15 during this particular shoot) are suing Urban Outfitters and photographer Jason Lee Perry for $28 million in damages. The teen in question, Hailey, is a successful young model who has been featured in editorials for Vogue Russia, Vogue China and TStyle, as well as campaigns for Gucci, Zara, Jill Stuart and more. Her parents claim that they did know about the photoshoot, but never gave permission for use of the photos.
A snippet of the lawsuit is as follows:
She is posed in a blatantly salacious manner with her legs spread, without a bra, revealing portions of her breasts.
The image of Teen in a spread eagle position making her crotch area the focal point of the image may portray a child in a sexually suggestive manner and may be in violation of one or more federal and/or state laws.
Their other concerns include the underage teenager holding beer and riding on a motorcycle without a helmet. But here's the big question... Are these things really bad enough to justify a $28 million lawsuit?
Check out the photos from the shoot in question and chime in with your comments:
Do these photos justify a lawsuit or is it just an overreaction?
